Petty swindler Matko lives on the banks of the Danube with his 17-year-old son Zare. After a failed deal, he owed money to the much more successful gangster Dadan. Dadan has a sister, Aphrodite, whom he desperately dreams of marrying off, so he invites Matko to make a deal: marry his son Zare to her. But young people do not need a marriage of convenience: Zare is in love with Ida, and Aphrodite is waiting for the man of her dreams.
