The first “Spirit of Fire” opened with the film “About Love” by the ideological inspirer and permanent president of the festival for many years, Sergei Solovyov, and this largely set the tone. We selected several paintings from the festival's programs that spoke especially vividly about feelings.
"Flying ship"
The Tsar decided to marry off his daughter, Princess Zabava, and had already found her a suitable groom - the rich heir Paul, who was also happy to become related to the monarchical family. Only Zabava has other plans for her life: she is in love with an ordinary sailor Ivan. The musical fantasy film by Ilya Uchitel, based on the famous cartoon, tells the story that you can’t be nice by force, but you can’t command your heart.
"Error 404"
A polygraph technician falls in love with Aida. But doubts about her honesty force the young man to resort to his professional skills and test the girl with a lie detector. The debut film by Kyrgyz director Tynchtyk Abylkasymov is a bold reflection on the degree of trust in relationships between people.
"Round"
The hero of the Iranian drama Milad is a talented musician; moreover, he considers himself the heir to the work of Queen leader Freddie Mercury (whom he impressively resembles!). However, attempts to unravel the death of his beloved plunge the young man into his own past and make him doubt the correctness of his chosen path.
"Lisbon"
Anna and Masha were family, but now they are exes. Everyone experiences a breakup in their own way: she tries to build a new relationship, he drinks. And then there are children - a daughter who dreams of going abroad to study, and a son who still hopes for reconciliation between his parents. Whether this will succeed is the intrigue of the film, but it is important to say that the Portuguese capital featured in the title will never appear in the frame; it will remain a symbol of unfulfilled hopes.
"She is dancing"
Four short stories covering two decades of life of the girl Olga, who considers dance a way of communicating with the world. She is also looking for love: the men around her become a husband, a lover, or just a dance partner, but they turn out to be weaker than the fragile and airy Olga.
