Discussions will focus on issues of co-production, content promotion, film education and cultural exchange.
At the XXII International Film Debut Festival “Spirit of Fire”, which will be held from March 23 to 26 in Khanty-Mansiysk, special attention will be paid not only to the cultural and competitive program, but also to the business program. Its main theme this year is “The special language of the national cinema of the BRICS countries.” Representatives of the film industry from Russia, India, the UAE, Egypt, Iran, South Africa and other countries will discuss the prospects for joint film production, cultural and educational exchange programs, and the development of national film distribution.
The business program will be opened by a plenary session “Connecting bridges. Intercultural dialogue and new BRICS partnerships", where experts will talk about the historical ties of the BRICS countries in the field of culture and art, strengthening multilateral partnerships and preserving cultural heritage.
Discussion “Education as an investment in the future of the film industry” will be devoted to the training of qualified personnel - directors, screenwriters, cameramen and producers. Particular attention will be paid to educational programs and the creation of film schools in the regions.
At the session “Filmed in Russia. Regions as centers of film production" will discuss how the creation of film commissions contributed to improving the cinematic climate in the regions, and what other support mechanisms may be useful for the development of the industry.
During the “Networking sessions for filmmakers from the BRICS countries” directors and producers will present their projects at the development or production stage to the expert community in order to receive recommendations for development, attracting co-producers and promotion in international film markets.
One of the key events will be film dialogue “Russia – Iran”. Participants will discuss what place Iranian cinema occupies in world cinema, how the country promotes its cultural code and what prospects for the development of cinematography will be provided by cooperation between Russia and Iran.
The final event of the business program will be a discussion “BRICS film festivals as tools for bringing national films to international markets”. Experts will consider the possibilities of festivals as a tool for popularizing auteur cinema and developing audience culture, and will also discuss cooperation between film festivals of the BRICS countries.
