The Governor of Ugra Natalia Komarova held the meeting of the Organizing Committee of the 22nd Spirit of Fire International Debut Film Festival. The President of the Film Festival, Serbian film director Emir Kusturica, Vice-President of the Film Festival Maria Zvereva, Chairperson of the Selection Committee Pyotr Shepotinnik, Deputy CEO of the Roscongress Foundation Elena Marinina took part in it.
The Head of the region said that 247 applications from 24 countries have been received for the festival competitions currently; 42 of them are full-length films and more than 200 are short films.
“Call for applications for the main competition nominations is now closed,” Natalia Komarova recalled, “key directions of the film festival’s business and cultural programs and the communication plan have been identified. The festival is a platform for the development of international humanitarian cooperation.”
Pyotr Shepotinnik provided details about the results of the festival’s application campaign: “We have a diverse program; films are widely different in genre and content. The emphasis is on supporting national cinematography, although there are a lot of applications from foreign authors.”
Deputy CEO of the Roscongress Foundation Elena Marinina presented the draft communication plan. It includes cultural, business and educational programs, media plan, invitation and advertising campaigns. “The festival will showcase cinematic educational programs of the BRICS countries,” the speaker noted. “The festival has been included in the program of Russia’s BRICS Presidency in 2024, and this will be one of its main accents.”
It should be noted that a special microfilm contest starts on February 1. Its main theme is Family Values, in honor of the Year of the Family, announced by the President of the Russian Federation.
Recall, Khanty-Mansiysk will host the 22nd Spirit of Fire International Debut Film Festival from March 23 to March 26, 2024. According to tradition, it will present the best new films by directors from Russia and other countries of the world.
The theme of this year’s festival is The Special Language of National Cinematography. The cultural program of the Spirit of Fire was drawn up with the assistance of the general partner, Gazprom Neft. The Roscongress Foundation is the communication partner of the film festival.
