A tale accompanied by an orchestra. “Pippi Longstocking” is a show based on Astrid Lindgren’s popular eponymous story that blends music and literature.

Yulia Peresild, a film and theatre actress, will read the story to the accompanement of the Yugra Concert Orchestra (Khanty-Mansiysk) with soloists of the Women’s Symphony Orchestra (Moscow). Ksenia Zharko, a winner of international contests (Moscow) will be the concert’s conductor.

During the performance a video created by the artist Sergey Anfinogentov will be projected on the screen. The video is based on drawings of Yugra children – some are students of art schools – for the fairy tale “Pippi Longstocking”.

The young viewers and their parents will see a fascinating story. The actress Yulia Peresild will take the spectator to smalltown Sweden, home of Pippi, a very unusual girl. Yulia Peresild will transform into different characters in a flash: into the protagonist’s friends Tommy and Annika, and into a strict school teacher, into Pippi’s father Captain Efraim who rules an indigenous tribe. And yet, one look at Yulia is enough – she is Pippi’s own image. Nimble, daring, fun-loving, contriving girl who doesn’t obey any rules. She is wilful and mischievous, but very kind. She is always in a good mood. She knows how to strike the right note with anyone. Pippi will remain a child at heart even in her old age. We believe it is important for every spectator, irrespective of his or her age, to be like Pippi for a while and to believe in miracles.

Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes with an intermission
