People’s Internet voting for the best works of the microfilm competition has begun on social media of the festival “Spirit of Fire” VKontakte. Users will choose one best work in two categories — main and children’s. The winners will receive prizes at the opening ceremony of the festival, which will be held on March 23 in Khanty-Mansiysk.
A total of 70 films (no longer than three minutes), united by the common theme of this year — “Family Values” — were submitted to the competition. 20 films in each of two categories make it to the next stage of the competition. The public vote on the «Spirit of Fire» festival page on VKontakte begins on March 15 at 08:00 Khanty-Mansiysk time and will last five days, until March 20.
Despite the time limits the authors managed to create brilliant works in a variety of genres: documentaries, fantasy, animation, and historical reconstruction. The competition traditionally has many participants from the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, but the geography turned out to be the widest: not only the regions of Russia are represented, videos from Tashkent and Paris also participate in the main category. The author of one of the works, Jeff (Jafar) Agayev from Krasnoyarsk, is simultaneously participating in the “big” competition of the festival (in the Russian category) with a full-length feature film.
