Film program
The main competition program features debut films by directors from Russia and other countries, including Iran, India, Brazil, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan. The theme of the festival is “The Special Language of National Cinema”. The opening film will be “The Abnormal” directed by Ilya Malanin, inspired by a true story. It tells the story of a boy trying to overcome a congenital disease by learning to play the piano. The festival will close with Oksana Degtyareva’s film “She’s Dancing”: its heroine Olga is not just interested in dancing - it’s her way of communicating with the world and people.

Siberian Identity
A program of short films from Siberia, prepared by the online publication "Masters of Siberia"
Siberian cinema today is born almost from scratch. It has no established tradition, school or developed network of local film studios. They existed, but intermittently: studios closed, authors left for the capitals, and schools, for example, Novosibirsk documentary, remained noticeable only to a narrow circle of specialists.
On the one hand, this is a limitation - there is nothing to rely on. On the other hand, it is an opportunity - there are no strict limits, which means you can create something new without looking back at established canons. It is this freedom that we value in the authors of the films included in our selection of short films shot in Siberia in recent years.
There are feature films and documentaries, professional and amateur, contemplative and ironic. This wide range of intonations and approaches seems to us to be the key feature of Siberian cinema. Its identity is in diversity, in the freedom not to limit itself to one form.
Following the screening, there will be a discussion with the directors of the films in the program.
