Screen adaptation of the story by Nenets writer Anna Nerkagi. The young Nenets Alyoshka marries an unloved woman only at the insistent request of his mother - his native nest must not be empty, his family must not fade away. But his heart yearns for his beloved, who ten years ago left the camp and went to live on the “mainland.” Every day Alyoshka listens to the road, every day he waits for his unfulfilled love...
Action takes place in tundra. Alyoshka, a young man of Nenets people, at the instance of his mother got married to a girl he didn’t love. But his heart is longing for his beloved. It has been 10 years since she left the camping-ground to settle on the Big Land. But every day Alyoshka listens out for the road, every day he waits for his might-have-been love…

VLADIMIR TUMAYEV

Born in 1953 in Sevastopol. In 1983 he graduated from the directing department of VGIK (workshop of M. Khutsiev). He made his directorial debut in 1981 with the short film “Idiot” (together with L. Tumaeva). The premiere of his first full-length film “Moon Dogs” (1995, with L. Tumaeva) took place at the Berlin International Film Festival. Teaches directing at VGIK. Prize-winner of national and international film festivals, winner of the TEFI and Nika awards. “White Moss” was awarded the Audience Award at the Moscow International Film Festival. Among his films are also “Marlene” (2003, doc., with L. Tumaeva), “Demoted” (2009, TV), “Chinese Grandmother” (2010), “And the Snow is Spinning...” (2012), etc.

VLADIMIR TUMAEV
