Director, artist. In 2008, he graduated from the acting department of the Krasnodar State University of Culture and Arts, and in 2012, from the directing group of Kirill Serebrennikov’s workshop at the Moscow Art Theater School. He collaborated with the Vsevolod Meyerhold Center, the State Theater of Nations, the Alexey Shchusev Museum of Architecture, as well as with the Vene Teater (Tallinn), Schaubuehne (Berlin), Théâtre des Deux Rives (Rouen). Co-author and director of the documentary opera “Die Einfachen” by Sergei Nevsky, director of the web version of David Bobe’s play “Fairies”. “Aquarium” is Ilya Shagalov’s debut in a full-length feature film.
