The Man Who Saw the Bear

An old hermit Grégoire seems to know everything about this life.Having studied human nature he escaped from people and livesalone in a hut somewhere in the south of France. Hardly anythingcan surprise him, but a chance meeting with Michel who is sufferingfrom Asperger’s syndrome turns his life upside down. Micheland Grégoire become close friends sharing a deep love of natureand join efforts trying to save the giant bear who escaped froma traveling circus and is terrorizing the locals and the authorities.

Director: Pierre Richard

French actor, scriptwriter, director. Born in 1934. In Paris he completed his studies at the drama school of Charles Dullin, actor and stage director, and later trained with Jean Vilar, the founder of the Avignon Theatre Festival.
In 1996 he won a prize at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival for his role in the film “27 Missing Kisses” by Nana Dzhordzhadze. In 2006 he received an honorary César.
He played in about 120 films, wrote 14 screenplays, and directed 9 films, including “Distracted” (1970), “The Troubles of Alfred” (1972), “I Don’t Know Much, But I’ll Say Everything” (1973), “I’m Shy, But I’m Getting Treatment” (1978), “It’s Not Me, It’s Him!” (1979), “Tell Me About Che” (1987), “One Can Always Dream” (1991), and “Straight Into the Wall” (1997).
