Director, screenwriter. Laureate of the Golden Eagle, Nika and other awards, winner and participant of major international and domestic film festivals. Born in 1959. Graduated from the Gorky Polytechnic Institute (1981), the directing department of the VKSR (1995, workshop of A.A. Proshkin and V.M. Priemykhov). His graduation work "Ты да я, да мы с тобой" participated in the Un Certain Regard program of the Cannes Film Festival and was noted at many festivals. In 2002, he co-authored the script for the cult series "Бригада", and in the same year he directed the series "Закон". His feature films have won many awards: "Живой" (2006) - Golden Eagle, Nika, White Elephant and MTV Russia awards, two prizes at the Kinotavr Open Russian Film Festival, etc.; "Русское" (2004) and "В кейптаунском порту" (2019) - prizes at the Window to Europe festival. The 2013 film "Географ глобус пропил" was awarded more than twenty awards and prizes at Russian and international screenings, for this work Aleksandr Veledinskiy received the Golden Eagle and Nika awards for directing. The 2023 film "1993" brought him the Golden Eagle for the screenplay. Other directorial works: "Ладога" (series, 2013), "Обитель" (series, 2020).
