Director, screenwriter, producer, actor. Born in 1983 in Alma-Ata. In 2007 he graduated from the Kazakh National Academy of Arts. In 2008 he completed an internship at the New York Film Academy. In 2009, he shot his first feature film, "Skaz o rozovom zaitse" (Tale of a Pink Hare), which was a great success in Kazakhstan, becoming the leader of the national box office at the time of its release. In 2018, his film "Trening lichnostnogo rosta" (Self-Growth Training) received the main prize of the Moscow International Film Festival, as well as the Grand Prix and the NETPAC jury award at the Eurasia festival. In 2020, his work "18 kilogertz" was awarded the Grand Prix of the Warsaw IFF and became the best film for young people at the festival in Cottbus. His "Skhema" (Scheme) in 2021 received the Grand Prix of the Generation 14+ competition at the Berlin IFF. His directorial works also include "Inoplanetyane ni pri chem" (Aliens Have Nothing to Do with It) (2013), "4+1" (2016), "Soldat lyubvi" (Soldier of Love) (2024) and others.
